Fred Gertsen, Founder & Senior Partner PsychoBoarding
Dr. Fred H.M. Gertsen MPA, RA has been a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in The Netherlands for almost 25 years. He specialized in the Financial Services industry. Currently, after his retirement from PwC in 2012, he works as Assistant-Professor at Erasmus University, where he leads a programme on the ‘Future of Integrated Corporate Reporting and Behavioral Consequences for Executives and Gatekeepers’. He also cooperates with The Chicago School of Professional Psychology on various ‘Study Abroad’ Programs. Currently his main academic and research interests focus on the behaviors of executives and the origins of why gatekeepers fail. Fred leads the Executive Education efforts of the Rotterdam School of Management (Erasmus University) in Amsterdam. He also holds various independent board member positions.
Fred combines his financial and professional services experience with his consulting, coaching and counseling skills. He integrates his behavioral economics knowledge (PhD) and experience with insights from psychotherapy into the executive coaching & counseling services of PsychoBoarding.
As a partner with PwC, Fred has been responsible for the audits and advice to many global financial services clients. He has lead the Dutch Asset Management and Real Estate Practice for many years. He was a member of the PwC Central Cluster Asset Management Leadership team with prime responsibility for Human Capital Development. He has worked with a variety of multinational banks, insurance companies, asset managers and large hedge funds. Fred has been seconded to London, Singapore and Miami and has also extensive work experience in Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the US.
Fred is Registeraccountant at the Royal Dutch Institute (NIVRA) and received a Master’s degree of Professional Accounting from the University of Miami. He received his PhD from Erasmus University, Rotterdam. His dissertation analyzed why gatekeepers did not ‘bark’ during the corporate reporting scandals at the beginning of the 21st century. He has also lectured on and researched topics such as: treasury and risk management, banking, hedge funds and complex financial instruments.
His other interests include, phisosophy, psychology, literature and poetry. Fred is an active sportsman, plays squash, ran two New York marathons, loves snowboarding and he played polo for some 20 years.
